Zündkerze - Matthew Bown Gallery, Berlin, 2010

This was a three person show with Damien Roach and Sarah Marten.

At the centre of my room was an architectural construction roughly based on British bus-stops. My interest was in the conversations that could be achieved between the three material elements – the shelter (a liminal space that is not a destination in its own right, but becomes a place for shelter, waiting and departure to somewhere new/different/better/worse), OSB board (a material most usually seen boarding up windows), UV lighting (on one hand reminiscent of sci-fi, student bedrooms and hippies, on the other a practical lighting method to prevent intravenous drug use in public toilets). Depending on the individual's interpretation of the materials, this allusion could be a positive or negative moving on to a better or worse place.
